Integrated Engineering and Service Test of Filter/Separator, Lightweight, 100-GPM.
Abstract
An Integrated Engineering and Service Test of Filter/Separator, Lightweight, 100 GPM, was conducted to determine the technical performance and safety characteristics as described in the approved SDR, the technical characteristics, as indicated by the particular design, and to determine the suitability of the item and its maintenance package for use by the Army. It was concluded that: the filter/separator is capable of decontaminating military fuels to the cleanliness standards of military specification MIL-F-8901A; the physical and structural design of the test item is adequate under pressure, and during rough handling, transport, and storage; the draft technical manual is adequate if the change listed in Appendix IV-A is incorporated; safety provisions are confirmed; the slight excess in overall height can be easily corrected with no adverse effects; the filter/separator meets the performance requirements of the SDR and is suitable for use by the Army under intermediate climatic conditions. It is recommended that: the 100-GPM Lightweight Filter/Separator be considered suitable for use by the Army under intermediate climatic conditions; the shortcomings shown in Appendix III be corrected; the revision listed in Appendix IV-A be incorporated in the draft technical manual.
