Protective Organic Coatings for General External Aircraft Application.

Abstract

This test and evaluation program is centered around the finding of coating systems which retain a greater degree of flexibility after aging and weathering than the currently used coatings. Modifications of selected acrylic resins with selected high molecular weight linear urethanes in combination with selected types and amounts of silicones, plasticizers and stabilizing agents yielded coatings which appear to have a better retention of flexibility for a given amount of discoloration upon heat aging than coatings in current use.
