Underwater Noise Reduction Study.

Abstract

This report on the study of underwater acoustic noise reduction techniques includes a detailed description of the computer program developed for determining the reflectivity, phase shift, and pressure at oblique incident angles for an n-layered generalized acoustic baffle, comprising random layers of fluid and elastic media. Input-output format, plotting options, symbology, and flow charts of all primary and secondary routines of the computer program are presented together with a review of the mathematical models utilized. The report also includes a comparison of the n-layered generalized baffle computer program predictions with the results of various studies in the field of multi-layered baffle media and ocean bottom sedimentation.
