Large Photocathode Image Intensifier with Image Motion Compensation.

Abstract

The work involves the development of a large photocathode (80 mm) image intensifier with minified output of 25 mm and image motion compensation. State of the art resolution, linearity and photocathode sensitivity are design goals. The electron optics are based on the fundamental relationships outlined by Schagen et al. The electron optics are being verified by means of a demountable test device that can be operated in a vacuum bell jar and uses an air exposable UV sensitive photocathode. The electron optics design is also being verified with an image intensifier computer program that has been developed at EMR. A test device is being fabricated to permit evaluation of welding, photocathode processing, and general operation characteristics of the basic design. (Author)
