High Pressure Biomedical Research in Genoa and La Spezia,

Abstract

Visits to two laboratories in Italy engaged in high pressure physiological research are described. The one located in Genoa is conducting research in the etiology of bends, aseptic bone necrosis and oxygen toxicity as well as the use of high pressure oxygen therapeutically. The other laboratory, located near La Spezia, is chiefly interested in the mechanisms of oxygen toxicity and protective agents against these toxic effects. (Author)
