Downward Ejection Airstrike Exercise Munition System.

Abstract

A prototype nonhazardous tactical exercise munition system for aerial delivery was designed, developed and tested. Each munition consists of one SUU-13/A cannister, a rubber sabot, 230 frangible submunitions filled with marking agent, packing medium, and a rubber sabot closure cap. The munitions are ejected from tactical aircraft using SUU-13/A downward ejection dispensers. The prototype system was tested at airspeeds from 165 to 605 KTAS and from altitudes of 100 and 500 feet AGL. (Author)
