Jovial Sort and Search Routines for the DM-1 System.

Abstract

The development of a program to sort alphanumeric data in core and a program to search core located data for a maximum or minimum value is discussed. The alphanumeric sorting routine utilizes the 'bubble-up' concept of ordering. This is a one pass method in which information found out of order is immediately placed in its proper position in the list. This procedure is iterated until all the data has been considered. When this condition is accomplished, the data is in the desired order. A simple and direct approach was taken in designing a routine to search a core data group for the maximum or minimum value.
