A Follow-Up Visit to the Royal Netherlands Navy Diving Medical Center, Den Helder.

Abstract

A discussion of the research objectives and techniques of the medical and psychological staff members of the Diving Medical Centre, Den Helder, is presented. Most of the current data collection is involved in establishing base line values on candidates entering the diver training program. Some additional data on physiological performance are collected annually from experienced divers and underwater swimmers. The most unusual finding is the appearance of slight irregularities in the EEG's of frogmen using high pressure oxygen several times per week for several years. These data must be carefully analyzed before a conclusion can be drawn. (Author)
