Study of One-Atmosphere Manned Underwater Structures. Volume III. Appendices.

Abstract

The Study of One-Atmosphere Manned Underwater Structures (SOAMUS) has accomplished three primary tasks: (1) identification and listing of various roles and missions which have been advanced for one-atmosphere manned underwater structures; (2) identification and assessment of structure concepts which have been developed by government agencies and industry, and which meet parameters established for the study; and (3) analyses of costs and sensitivities of structures concepts in terms of such parameters as operating depth, manning, levels, mission durations, hull configurations, offshore distances, etc. The final report is presented in three volumes. Volume III contains four appendices which comprise a description of the Categorical Analysis Approach taken in the development of a closed list of missions, a set of basic cost estimates upon which the cost analyses are based, and two reports from a contributing consultant and subcontractor.
