Nighttime Ionospheric Profile Matching for 1030 UT, 1 August 1967,

Abstract

Electric field strength levels have been recorded by a VLF multiple-frequency oblique-incidence ionospheric sounder over a nighttime propagation path from Hawaii to Southern California. The field strength values recorded at 1030 UT on 1 August 1967 are compared with predicted fields obtained from a mathematical propagation model using various electron density profiles representative of the lowest region of the nighttime ionosphere. A 'best fit' profile to the sounder data at this time is determined. (Author)
