Present Views of the Gulf Stream.

Abstract

The Gulf Stream shows a high degree of constancy throughout its length. It is strongest and most persistent west of 65 degrees W; significant changes in speed, frequency, and direction are more likely to occur east of 65 degrees W, where the current widens as it flows away from the mainland. The information used in this report is based mainly on direct current measurements. (Author)
