Research to Determine the Nature of the Deleterious Interactions of Refractory Materials with High Temperature Air Species.

Abstract

Experimental mass spectrometric studies of high temperature vaporization and oxidation of graphite are described. Appearance potential curves for C1+, C2+, and C3+ are illustrated and discussed. Results from Langmuir studies of graphite vaporization of two types of graphite are discussed. Data for graphite oxidation by molecular oxygen above 2000K is presented. (Author)
