Fluidic Instrument Pressure Regulator.
Abstract
The report covers the second phase development of a closed-loop fluidic pressure regulator. The regulator relies on a passive orifice and laminar restrictor bridge circuit for the pressure sensing. A vortex valve controlled confined-jet amplifier is used as the feedback amplifier. The output of the confined-jet amplifier varies the impedance of a vortex valve flow controller to hold the output pressure at the design value. The report covers, in detail, temperature sensitivity of the laminar orifice pressure sensing circuit and the design of two temperature compensators. A detailed analysis and design procedure for an opposing swirl vortex valve is described. The analysis covers a new, opposing swirl vortex valve design. The radial supply port is replaced with a tangential port opposing the normal control port of the valve. (Author)
