Abstract
This multi-sectioned technical report describes RCA's recommended Functional Models and Simulations Program for the Mallard secure, digital, automatic-switched communications system with single-channel access. This report presents the plans for constructing and assembling a functional model test bed; provides system, subsystem, and equipment-level test plans, implementation plans, and costs for the FM and S Phase; and describes an approach for continued system design. Milestone schedules are also included. This Volume (I) contains Sections 1 and 2 which comprise the program summary. A glossary of terms and abbreviations common to the Mallard Program is provided in Volume II. (Author)
