Diode Control Research.

Abstract

The report discusses the test results of a 5-cell, 12 Ampere-hour nickel-cadmium, sealed, aerospace battery, cycling under a condensed synchronous orbit regime at a maximum of 80 percent depth of discharge. Also described is the assembly and the complete test of a similar battery designed for continuous cycling under the 90-minute orbit at 75 percent depth of discharge. Both of these batteries, which feature automatic charge control by means of stabistor diodes and associated circuitry were tested under vacuum conditions over a range of 0 to 40C. (Author)
