3.2 Millimeter Transmitter Tube.

Abstract

The program involved the development of a permanent magnet focused, conduction cooled, distributed interaction klystron which oscillates at 93.75 GHz, produces pulses of 10 kW peak output power by the application of a relatively low control voltage, and operates for more than 500 hours. It is believed that this objective can be reached by incorporating a gridded electron gun in a tube design developed under a previous contract. The design of a scaled-up model of the electron gun has been completed. Experiments have shown that conduction cooling of the collector can be accomplished. Magnetic field studies continue in conjunction with efforts to integrate the new gun design into the tube. (Author)
