Four Vehicle Simulators,

Abstract

Simulators for ship, tank, truck and car operation are described. These have been developed in the Netherlands and are intended for use in the training of military and maritime personnel. Although they apply different principles, they function by providing a changeable projection of the surrounding environment of the vehicles, and use this to provide the illusion of motion in response to controls actuated by the operator in a stationary compartment. These devices are intended primarily for training purposes, but offer potential value in psychological and ergonomic studies. (Author)
