The 'Fluid Vane' Compressor,

Abstract

A centrifugal compressor is described where moving liquid sheets rather than solid vanes supply energy to air, giving almost isothermal compression. The unit is presently being studied as a component of a prototype gas turbine. Operating principles and potential applications are outlined.
