Executive Summary of the Transportation-75 Derivative Study.
Abstract
The Transportation-75 derivative study problem was to develop the rationale and justification for a proposed transportation service in support of the study, Combined Arms and Support, 1975 (CAAS-75). The transportation service for the study, The Administrative Support, Theater Army, 1970-75 (TASTA-70), was reevaluated to determine what changes were required in transportation organizations and operations to make them responsive to CAAS-75. The development of Transportation-75 was influenced by the specific guidance that TASTA-70 will provide the common framework for combat service support through the mid-70's and that evaluation of combat service support will take place within the framework of the approved TASTA-70 concepts to avoid disrupting collateral programs. A review of basic information and the CAAS-75 doctrinal study and force models resulted in identification of innovations to update TASTA-70 with due consideration given to the three studies: Army Logistic Support Concepts--Air Lines of Communication, Aircraft Requirements for the Combat Structure of the Army, and Operational Concepts for Fast Deployment Logistic Ships. This report is a summary of the Transportation-75 study which contains, additionally, a main report, and 14 annexes.
