Initial Production Test of Tractor, Wheeled, Pneumatic-Tired, 4-Wheel Drive, DED, Hinged-Frame Steerable, Model No. 830 MB.

Abstract

An initial production test was conducted at Aberdeen Proving Ground from 19 June 1967 to 3 December 1968 on two tractors, wheeled, pneumatic-tired, 4-wheel drive DED, hinged-framed steerable, model No. 830 MB. Testing consisted of numerous performance and endurance tests, a maintenance evaluation, and a post-test disassembly inspection. The purpose was to assure that the 830 MB tractors perform in accordance with the terms of the contract and military specification. The test item satisfied the test requirements except for the fording, lifting attachment, radio-interference reduction, and lighting and ventilation tests and the maintenance evaluation. Based on the results obtained it was concluded that the 830 MB tractors complied with all but five terms of the US Army contract and military specification.
