Investigation of the Electrode Migration and Reaction Process Occurring in Alkaline-Zinc Batteries.

Abstract

The behavior of the zinc electrode in KOH solutions has been studied with the use of short potentiostatic pulses of varying amplitudes. The low overvoltage results give an exchange current of about 2 ma/sq. cm. in 1.00 N KOH. The high overvoltage results are consistent with the suggestion that the controlling factor in the electron exchange reaction involves the transfer of one electron. (Author)
