The Tree-Meta Compiler-Compiler System: A Meta Compiler System for the Univac 1108 and the General Electric 645.

Abstract

Tree Meta is a compiler-compiler system for context-free languages. Parsing statements of the metalanguage resemble Backus-Naur Form with embedded tree-building directives. Unparsing rules include extensive tree-scanning and code-generation constructs. Examples in this report are drawn from algebraic and special-purpose languages. The process of bootstrapping from a simpler metalanguage is explored in detail. (Author)
