Evaluation of Testing Techniques for Filament Wound Composites.

Abstract

The report discusses the results of a program to develop physical testing methods for fiber glass reinforced-epoxy plastic composite materials. Five test methods--four-point loaded flexure (flat specimen); axial compression (flat and tubular specimens); three-point loaded panel shear (tubular specimen); and torsional panel shear (tubular specimen)--were evaluated from an engineering standpoint. These five methods were evaluated with respect to filament reinforced plastics with filaments at various orientations. (Author)
