Signal and Noise Analysis of the Partial Norsar Array.

Abstract

Long-period signals, long-period noise, and one sample of short-period noise recorded at the partially installed NORSAR site were analyzed. Power-density spectra, 2-channel coherences, and wavenumber spectra are presented. Both long-period noise and short-period noise were dominated by directional Rayleigh-wave energy. Short-period noise in the 1.5- to 4.0-Hz range shows unusually high coherence for seismometer separations of 10 km. Love-wave signal similarity appears good, but Rayleigh waves exhibit considerable dissimilarity. (Author)
