Demonstration of High Strength Fiberglass Reinforced Composite Motor Case Technology.

Abstract

TECHNOLOGY NECESSARY TO MEET THE INCREASED PERFORMANCE REQUIREMENTS FOR ADVANCED TACTICAL WEAPON SYSTEMS. These requirements dictated the development of a small dismeter, thin-wall, glass filament-wound motor case that would exhibit composite bursst strenths approaching 200 ksi with good reproducibility. The report summarizes the program conducted to meet this technology gap, and it presents a summary on the effects of hydrotesting on the ultimate burst pressure of small diameter rocket motor cases.
