A Digital Computer Program for the Analysis of Wave-Form Data (Multi-Record Wave Investigator for Sine and Random Data - MR WISARD),
Abstract
A digital computer program called MR WISARD (an acronym for Multi-Record Wave Investigator for Sine and Random Data) has been developed. The program accepts time-series data (sinusoidal, random or transient) and generates a number of quantities which are of interest in the field of acoustics, vibration, statistics, and shock analysis. The program is written almost entirely in the FORTRAN language. It is at present operable on an IBM 7090/94 computer with the IBSYS FORTRAN IV system. This report describes the operation of the program with this system. The program requires very little knowledge of the computer or its operation. The routines included in MR WISARD were written collected to solve various data analysis problems. They were combined into a single program because of the obvious advantages in bookkeeping and ease of usage. Instructions for using the program are presented in sections on data entry, data modification, data scaling, data display, single-record analysis, and multiple-record analysis. Method of computation and mathematical definitions are presented in Appendix A. Appendix B discusses some problems which might be encountered in the analog-to-digital conversion of data. Appendix C shows examples of the usage of many of the options available in MR WISARD. (Author)
