Extended Range Applications.

Abstract

In the first phase of this program packaging materials and methods of packaging the new Tech/Ops extended range developers were evaluated. Aluminum coated with polyethylene is the material best suited for heat sealed packages of powdered developer ingredients. Packages were stored at temperatures of 68 and 98 degrees F and at relative humidities of 20 and 90 percent, and they were satisfactorily tested as liquid solutions at periodic intervals for nine months. The second phase of the program was devoted to the application of Tech/Ops extended range developers to the processing of Kodak, DuPont, Ansco, Adox, and Ilford films. These films were exposed to imagery under various unfavorable lighting conditions. In all cases, prints from Tech/Ops XDR-4 developed film showed a subjective increase in detail in the highlight and shadow areas, compared to prints from the control-developed film.
