Production Cost Estimation of Rocket Motor Designs. Volume III. Users Guide for Filament-Wound Program.

Abstract

The objective of the computer program for which the users guide is furnished is to estimate the cost of fabricating the inert components of a filament-wound rocket-motor case. The program encompasses the motor case, its skirts, and closures, as well as metal inserts used for reinforcement. The program is limited to estimating the cost of motor cases up to approximately 60 inches in diameter and 180 inches in length; a broad class of materials is provided for in the program including those commonly used for such motor cases. The program is expected to produce a cost estimate which is sufficiently accurate for the designer to use in his early design exercise to make the comparisons needed to produce an optimum performance/cost ratio for a particular rocket mission.
