Effects of Additives on Ignition Delay and Chamber Pressurization of Space-Ambient Engines.

Abstract

The objective of the program reported herein is to evaluate the effects of the addition of nitric oxide, acetonitrile and water on the ignition delay and pre-ignition chamber pressurization of space-ambient engines operating with nitrogen tetroxide/monomethyl hydrazine and nitrogen textroxide/aerozine-50. The evaluation has been made within the framework of a computer model of hypergolic ignition developed for the neat nitrogen tetroxide/monomethyl hydrazine propellant system. This report is the final report of the ten-month program. (Author)
