Field Testing of Propellant System Gases and Liquids.

Abstract

Studies were conducted to develop field test methods for the determination of moisture, oxygen and hydrocarbons in helium (g) and nitrogen (g, l); for the determination of particulates in nitrogen (l); and for the determination of moisture and oil in ammonia (l). The program was divided into four phases - laboratory screening studies, development of model field test kits, testing and evaluation of model field test kits and instruction and training of field personnel in test kit usage. Based on the laboratory screening studies four model field test kits were built, namely: LN2 particulate field test kit; Hydrocarbon analyzer field test kit; Moisture field test kit; Oxygen analyzer field test kit.
