Review of Wave Drag Theories.

Abstract

The review compares the results of wave drag theories obtained by different sources. All these theories are linearized. This limits their application to small wave heights compared with the wave lengths. In channels of finite depths the theories give abrupt changes in performance at the critical channel speed. A method is explained that makes possible the determination of the bound vortex drag from measurements of the lift-curve slopes. (Author)
