Development of Techniques and Standards for Use of Nuclear Engineering Center Neutron Radiography Facility.

Abstract

The neutron radiography facility at the Air Force Institue of Technology Nuclear Engineering Center, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio, was evaluated to determine its suitability for critical neutron radiography work by Air Force scientists and contractors. The transfer technique using indium foil converter screens was used. Practical operating techniques for the facility were developed and equipment limitations were identified. Primary emphasis was placed upon optimizing image sharpness using a specially designed resolution test object and advanced techniques for image analysis. (Author)
