Mechanical Properties of Epoxy Composites Reinforced with Experimental Graphite Fabrics.

Abstract

Five different types of graphite fabric were evaluated in composite formutilizing ERL- 256 epoxy resin matrix. Composites were characterized as totheir mechanical physical properties. The best results were found usingThornel 50. Mechanical properties of composites reinforced with this graphitefabric were compared to similar mechanical property data for bidirectionalgraphite/epoxy composites fabricated from nonwoven unidirectional prepreg. On the average, these composites exhibited mechanical property values thatwere approximately 90% of the values obtained on nonwoven bidirectionalgraphite/ poxy composites. (Author, modified-PL)
