Super-Power Beam Type Switch Tube.

Abstract

The purpose of the program was to refine the techniques of design of the convergent gridded linear beam gun in order to achieve the required transconductance and beam laminarity and to design and evaluate an optimized depressable collector. The optics of the gridded convergent linear beam electron gun were similarly studied resulting in an improved gun which was designed using the beam injection principle. Both the gridded injection gun and the depressible collector were analyzed at 10 KV in one-third scale in the beam analyzer. A full scale vehicle with a 4 inch diameter cathode was designed, fabricated and evaluated at 30 KV late in the program. (Author)
