Automatic Equalized Data Modem.

Abstract

The objective of this contract was the development and construction of an experimental model of an automatically equalized data modem of full duplex design capable of operation over nominal Schedule 4B (now Schedule C2) telephone voice circuits at rates of 1200, 2400 or 4800 bits/sec. The use of a feedback channel was not allowed. When completed the modem was tested over simulated and leased Schedule 4B telephone circuits and met or exceeded bit error rates required by the contract. The modem was also tested over simulated Schedule 4 and 4A lines with excellent results. (Author)
