Engineer Design Test of Stabilized Optical Sights (Optical Evaluation).

Abstract

A set of seven stabilized optical sights of various designs were evaluated at Aberdeen Proving Ground from April to 23 June 1969. All of these sights incorporate a gyrocontrolled stabilizer which is designed to enhance an observer's ability to identify objects while minimizing the vibrational effects of aircraft on the optical system. The variable magnification units also have push-button motor-driven zoom controls which varies the magnification. (Author)
