Comparison of Point and Block Successive Overrelaxation in the Solution of Laplace's Equation in Two Dimensions.

Abstract

The study investigates the relative solution time requirements for point successive overrelaxation and five block successive overrelaxation iterative methods. The finite difference form of Laplace's equation is solved for four different sets of boundary conditions by each method. In three of these problems, point successive overrelaxation requires less time for solution by computer. (Author)
