Visible Height and Width of the Plane of a Task as a Function of Task and Subject Locations,

Abstract

This paper develops the mathematical equation for determining the dimensions of the vertical area within a hot-cell which is visible to the operator. This area is a function of four variables: (1) the distance from the window inside the hot cell to the vertical plane in which the task is located, (2) the distance from the observation window to the vertical plane in which the observer is located, (3) the distance from the floor to the observer's eye level, and (4) the distance from the vertical plane of the left hand edge of the observation window to the midpoint of the interocular separation on the plane of the observer.
