Probability Distributions of Random Variables Associated with the Destruction of Targets Selected at Random.

Abstract

The report considers the problem of attacking a target complex when weapons are assigned to targets at random. The number of weapons required to kill a prescribed number of targets and the number of targets killed when a fixed number of weapons is used are the random variables of prime concern. The report includes vulnerability of the weapon and its delivery platform and the effect of decoys in the target area. Procedures for selecting the optimal number of weapons to use are also included.
