300C Rotating Rectifier Alternator. Phase II. Design, Fabrication, and Test of Alternator.

Abstract

Work is continuing on the Phase II effort of the contract. Phase II is the design, fabrication, and test of a 300C ambient brushless alternator using silicon carbide rotating rectifiers. The technical efforts of the period were directed towards manufacturing of the individual parts of the alternator. Manufacture of the punchings for the main and exciter stacks was completed. This included the application of a thick, high temperature interlaminar insulation on the punchings. Manufacture of the exciter and main generator stacks was begun. Solid lubricated bearings were received.
