Maraging Steel Propellant Storability Test Tank.

Abstract

This report summarizes the work performed in designing, fabricating, and acceptance testing small-scale storable propellant tanks. The design incorporates full-scale missile tank features and typical weld stresses. Fabrication and test procedures are based on simulated production tooling and on actual procedures and specifications used in the manufacture of production tankage. The tank design employs the use of Maraging Steel, Grade 200 material. This material has been evaluated and determined to be acceptable for short-term propellant storability testing using UDMH or N2O4. (Author)
