Flight Test Results of Cargo Aircraft Air Escape Tests Conducted on C-97 Aircraft.

Abstract

Flight tests were conducted on the C-97 in order to determine the correct hatch openings and evacuation procedures to be used in case of an inflight fire. The results of this test indicated that in no case should any hatches other than the rear escape hatches be used for evacuation. The opening of any hatches in conjunction with these two will cause an unfavorable flow condition.
