Fluidic Circuits for Accelerometer.

Abstract

The report covers the evaluation of a closed-loop, feedback controlled vortex accelerometer concept. The linear vortex accelerometer developed previously is a high-gain, narrow-range device. The application of feedback circuits was proposed for control of gain and range of the accelerometer. This ultimate goal was not reached during the program. Significant accomplishments during the contract include the development and investigation of a stable, high-gain vortex amplifier. Incremental stable pressure gain in excess of 5000 was experimentally demonstrated during the program. A second achievement was the design and test of a six-input vortex controlled, confined-jet amplifier. This device demonstrated a load-insensitive incremental pressure gain of 24, operating at 80 psig supply pressure, at 13 psig input pressure level, and 40 psig average output pressure level.
