Ultra High Speed Microcircuit Prescaler.

Abstract

The report describes the work completed during the fourth through sixth month of a 14-month program to develop the theory and methods required to fabricate 20 microcircuit ultra high speed prescalers or divide-by-five counters. The prescalers are to operate reliably from 225 to 400 MHz. The second experiment comprising four standard MECL III flip-flops on a single monolithic die, interconnected using three layer metallization to form the divide-by-two, divide-by-five function is reported. The final monolithic prescaler design is described, the layout for this design, using two-layer metallization, being 80 percent complete. (Author)
