30,000-RPM Vane Pump Demonstration.

Abstract

Pivoting-tip vanes were evaluated in laboratory experiments at design conditions of differential pressure, vane load support, fluid temperature and tip speed. One soft and four hard metallic cam-ring surface treatments were tested in laboratory experiments. A soft bearing-type material was chosen for the cam-ring surface. Fabrication of the fixed-displacement pump was started. A pressure control was conceived and partially analyzed for adequate response rate, zero steady state pressure error, and stable operating characteristics. An experimental deformable cam-ring was fabricated. (Author)
