Cesium Bombardment Ion Engine System Development.

Abstract

This report covers the development of a 100-micropound-thrust cesium bombardment ion engine system. Associated development of a novel method of thrust vectoring, a discharge neutralizer, propellant feed systems, and power conditioning and control circuitry is described. The design and early experimental results of a millipound-range thruster using the magnetoelectrostatic plasma containment concept are presented. The conceptual design of a system utilizing this thruster is also described. (Author)
