The Theoretical Amplification Characteristics of Multiple Cavity Masers for Strong and Weak Maser Action,

Abstract

Use is made of chain matrix A formalism to derive general formulas for power gain characteristics of reflection and selective transmission of one, two, and three-cavity masers. The maser circuits in question are formed by a cascade connection of microwave cavities with losses coupled by quarter-wave length waveguides. Each of the six types of maser amplifiers discussed in this paper was analyzed for weak and strong maser effects and for both Lorenzian and Gaussian EPR line shapes in the maser crystal.
