High-Energy Ignition System for Jet Engines,

Abstract

Ignition systems for reciprocating-type engines are briefly discussed, and elaboration is made of the trends in the development of high energy ignition systems for jet engines and the methods for measuring the energy discharge by a spark plug with semiconductor. The electric circuit of a high-energy ignition system is analyzed, and investigations are made of capacitor discharge phenomenon in a spark plug system with semiconductor. Hence, based on the results obtained from this theoretical analysis, a study was made of the energy balance appearing in the above-mentioned ignition system. In addition, based on the laboratory experiments, conclusions were reached in regard to guidelines of projected use of the high-energy ignition systems. (Author)
