Calculating Meander-Shaped Inductances in Printed Circuits,

Abstract

A rigorous method for calculating the meander-shaped or simple strip-type inductances used in printed circuitry is presented. The basis of this technique is the determination of the induction of parallel conductors; that is, a must be small with respect to 1. Tabular values are given as function of the number of conductors, and a simple formula is derived for the calculation of the value of this type of inductance and for the self-capacitance by means of a specially introduced correction factor. Typical values are given for pertinent parameters, derived from two test series, good agreement being found between theoretical and experimental data.
