Additives for High Temperature Hydraulic Fluids.

Abstract

The object of the program was to synthesize various compounds for use as additives in high temperature fluids such as fluorocarbons, polyphenyl ethers, and phosphonitriles. The work also encompassed the synthesis of previously synthesized fluids in which the new additives can be evaluated. Fluorinated, partially fluorinated, and nonfluorinated derivatives of aryl-phosphine and phosphine oxide compounds, alkarylphosphine and phosphine oxides, aryl phosphorus-nitrogen compounds, aryl phosphites, aryl and alkyl-arylamines were included within the scope of the work. As far as possible, the methods employed for synthesis of the compounds were adaptations or modifications of existing synthetic methods. (Author)
